On a road trip from Ohio to Pennsylvania, I stumbled upon Moundsville, West Virginia — and into the quiet majesty of The Grave Creek Mound. Built by the ancient Adena people, this towering earthwork isn’t just a burial site. It’s a message in soil, a monument of meaning.
Climbing it, I felt history underfoot. At the top, a 360° view of river, hills, and sky — chosen not by chance, but by reverence. More than a landmark, this place is a bridge: past to present, earth to spirit, traveler to timelessness.
Some stories aren’t told — they’re felt. And this one, written in earth and wind, will stay with me forever.
